How It Works

How does Zabra Monitoring work?


ZABRA detects keywords and variations misspellings and acronyms of words and associates them with alerts.  Based on your customized settings you will receive alerts based on these factors. To change or modiy your settings. Click SETTINGS and adjust monitoring settings.

How much does it cost?


There are currently two services available:


Social service allows you to monitor and receive alerts via email and/or text message for your children’s social networking accounts. We currently offer Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We will be adding more social networking sitesand there will be no additional charge as we add them. The cost for this service is $9.95 per month and includes any family member (immediate family only) at no additional charge. So, whether you have one child or many, the cost is the same.


TextSMS Service allows you to monitor Text/SMS accounts. We currently offer any Text/SMS enabled devices on the AT&T Network. We will be adding more carriers very soon. The cost for this service is $5.95 per month, per line monitored.


This service allows you to access the ZABRA library of video content on subjects ranging from Alcohol Abuse to Withdrawal.  To signup for a free account you simply need to validate your email address.

Why should I choose Zabra for my family?


The ZABRA service allows you to monitor your children while they’re able to continue to operate and function the same way they’ve always have on their social networking sites and their mobile device via Text/SMS messaging.  ZABRA allows you, the parent, to monitor without having to be a spy or have unfettered access to their social networking accounts and access every conversation they have.  ZABRA offers protection for your children while they’re able to maintain their own sense of privacy.

There is no software to install with ZABRA. You don’t have to worry with installing and properly connecting each of your devices. Wherever your child interacts with a social media site that we monitor or if they Text/SMS message, you can have peace of mind knowing that you’ll be alerted if they’re exposed to potentially harmful posts, tweets and/or messages.

How Do I Sign Up?


Signing up for ZABRA is easy and takes just a few minutes.  Select the type of account that works for you and your family and then complete the signup process.  Once you complete the intital registration, you will be asked to to setup/authenticate your child’s social networking accounts or Text/SMS mobile phone. You can enter the credentials for each social networking account or choose to send your child an email (one per social network or Text/SMS phone) and they can authenticate their accounts without compromising their password.


What social networks does Zabra monitor?


ZABRA currently monitors Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  We will be adding additional social networking sites in the near future at no additional charge to the consumer.

How are alerts sent/received?


ZABRA Alerts are sent and received based on the preferences you set during signup.  We deliver via SMS/Text Message (standard text/SMS messaging rates apply) and/or via email.  To update your settings, go to the SETTINGS tab at the top left hand side of the DASHBOARD when you log into the site.

You may also choose to be alerted throughout the day or you can receive a daily update that will be emailed to you at the end of the day.

How often are emails/reports generated/sent?


Alerts are sent as the ZABRA as we scan the social networks and they are delivered to your email or SMS/Text service based on the preferences you set in SETTINGS section of your account.

Reports are sent nightly as well as weekly and will let you know the number of alerts that are unread and need attention.

What Text/SMS Carriers do you monitor?


ZABRA currently monitors devices connected to the AT&T Network. We will be adding more networks in the coming months. Check the site and blog for updates.

General Questions

Can I see all the conversations and messages my child is looking at?


You will only be able to see the context of the conversation in which an alert appears.  You will not be able to monitor every conversation that is not “alerted.”

How do I modify/change alerts and monitoring?


To change or modify your account settings simply click the SETTINGS icon loated in the top menu from the main dashboard/overview page once you’ve logged into your account.

How do I ignore/dismiss an alert?


  1. From the Dashboard click on an alert.
  2. You will be taken to the Incident/Details screen.
  3. Select an incident you wish to view and the details for that alert will will appear to the right including details for who the alert is for which social networking site it appeared from (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), the category of the alert (Alcohol, Bigotry, etc.) and the Severity level.
  4. Below you will see the context and information from the social networking account appear as well as specific video content related to that alert.
  5. Towards the top of this section locate the “IGNORE” button and click.
  6. Several options will appear.  Select how you’d like to IGNORE this alerts and click submit.

How do I change my username/password


  1. Once you’ve logged into the site click the “SETTINGS” menu item located in the upper right-hand corner of the dashboard/overview screen.
  2. From the left hand menu select “Edit Profile” and you can modify your username and password using the fields on that page.
  3. Once completed click UPDATE and your information will have been updated in the ZABRA database.

How do I remove/delete my ZABRA account?


  1. Once you’ve logged into your account, locate the settings button located in the upper right hand corner of the Overview/Dashboard screen and click on it to be taken to the settings page.
  2. In the left hand menu select “Cancel Account”
  3. Select one of the two options on the screen to “Downagrade” your account to FREE mode turning off alerting for your children or “Cancel account.”
  4. Enter your account password
  5. Click “Downgrade” or “Yes, Cancel” button to confim.

I need help logging into the system.


To log into Zabra.  Select the LOGIN selction at the top right=hand corner of the page.

Fill in the email address you used to sign up for yoru account and the password associated with this account and clcik LOGIN to be taken to the main ZABRA homepage for your account.

If you have lost your username or password, select “forgot password” from this screen to retrieve that information via the priary account holders email address.

Your username will always be the primary email address youy used when you signed up. If you don’t remember this, please contact customer service at

How do I Disable iMessage for my iPhone


iPhone, 4, 4S, 5, 5S, 5C

Device Software Version iOS 6

1.            From the home screen, select Settings.

2.            Select Messages.

3.            Drag the iMessage switch left or right to enable/disable iMessage.

Device Software Version iOS 7

1.            From the home screen, select Settings.

2.            Select Messages.

3.            Select the iMessage switch to enable/disable.

Yes, we will be adding more mobile carriers in the future like Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, etc.

How to Use Zabra

How do I add my child's social networking account to Zabra?


There are two ways to add a child to be monitored.


  • 1) Upon signing up you will be taken through the process of setting up your child and adding their social networking accounts to be monitored as part of the sign up process.



  • 2) To add another child to monitored, log into your ZABRA account and from the Dashboard screen click the “+ Add another child” icon located on the left-hand side of the screen and follow the instructions to add additional children to your account.

How do I add additional social accounts to monitor?


From the Dashboard/Overview screen follow these steps:

  1. Click on your child’s account located on the left hand side of the Overview/Dashboard/Main Screen once you’ve logged into your ZABRA account.
  2. Scroll to the Current Monitoring Status section located towards the bottom of the page and looks like thiscurrentmonitoringstatus
  3. Click add new account and you will taken through the process of adding additional social media accoutns to be monitored.

How do I add my child's Text/SMS Device?


If you’re an AT&T mobile subscriber, adding a device to be monitored by ZABRA is easy. If you’re an existing customer, click the SETUP icon located in your dashboard next to yoru child. The cost is $5.95 per line. Follow the instructions to authenticate the device and you’ll be notified if your child is exposed to potentially harmful content. NOTE: If your child is using an iPhone, you will need to disable iMessage. See FAQ’s on instructions on how to disable iMessage on your iOS device.

How do I change or modify how I receive alerts from my account?


Once you are logged into your Zabra account, click the Settings button located in the menu at the top right-hand side of the page.

Click Notification Settings in the menu located on the left of the page.

Select the settings you want and then click UPDATE at the bottom of the page.
